Hi! I'm Craig, and for the last 30 odd years my wife Susann and I have been traveling the world on the cheap;
this site is all about how we do it, where we have been, and tips and ideas about how you can maximize your travel Dollar
Scroll down for recent posts to the daily Travel-blog... well sort of daily some times....

So, why should you pay attention to us? I would suggest because we have gotten pretty good at budget travel, all over the world. Our first International travel was to Mexico. But the big trips started in 1999, when the family went to England. Since then, we have been to Scotland, Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands,  Germany, Austria, Italy, Vatican City, France, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Hungary, Slovakia,  Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Northern Ireland, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Wales, Luxembourg, Andorra, Finland, Estonia, Iceland, Poland, and Portugal. In 2019, we broke our European boundaries and included some Asian sites, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan Then we added another continent and visited Australia. Next, we are headed next to Norway, Slovenia, and Croatia.

Let me just say this, Susann isn't a fan of rice, and Chinese food is pretty much near the bottom of her favs... but there we were in Taiwan, locally known as the ROC, Republic of China, and we needed food.

The Ximen Hedo Hotel Kaifeng had the most incredible spread...

Besides being a world traveler, I am also an educator and text book author. In 2017, I was "promoted" to department chair, and while I still traveled, time to keep up this web site never seemed to be available. But I have now stepped back to my prior role, and time for...

A friend heard we were going to Iceland in August and replied "Beautiful countryside, geysers, waterfalls, and $20 bowels of soup..."

We had a blast in the swinging towns of Helsinki, Turku, and Tallinn, and took a lot of pictures, and took a lot of notes. Now it is time to get that info to you, but it will take time! But I think it will be worth the wait! Check back, Kiitos (Thanks)

About Me

I'm an eccentric traveler who has visited 45 States and walked beneath more than 39 foreign flags... my 'other' job is a college professor, and teachers don't make a ton of money or get a lot of time off; so this is all about how to take a short 5-7 day trip, getting the most out of those days, and doing it on the cheap...
